Supporting the Development of Florida’s MITA 3.0 SS-A

The MITA Framework 3.0 expands MITA enterprise architecture principles to foster business, information, and technology transformation across state Medicaid enterprises and beyond. MITA 3.0 incorporates new guidance on legislative initiatives, coding changes, and transaction set mandates, including the ACA, ARRA, HITECH, 5010, NCPDP, HIPAA, and ICD-10.

Developing MITA 3.0 SS-A

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) was the first state to produce a MITA SS-A that encompassed the guidelines of MITA 3.0. Building on the results of CSG’s previous MITA v2.01 SS-A for AHCA, and applying our expertise as an author of MITA 3.0, we efficiently produced a complete high-quality MITA 3.0 SS-A. MITA 3.0 expands the MITA Business Architecture to cover ten business areas and 80 business processes. The MITA 3.0 Information Architecture includes enhanced health information data standards from organizations such as ONC, NwHIN, and NIEM. The MITA 3.0 Technical Architecture reflects technological advancements such as business rules engines, cloud computing concepts, and emerging standards. AHCA’s SS-A incorporates MITA 3.0 guidelines and tools, including checklists, scorecards, profiles and templates. The AHCA SS-A also addresses the Seven Conditions and Standards to support compliance with enhanced funding requirements.
